The two significant examples of technological change I found were really quite simple. The camera attached to aeroplanes that were used to document areas of interest and spy on other countries and the simple hand held film camera that captured the war in every essence.
The significance of the film camera was huge during war times. It enabled the troops to document their experience in the trenches, to show us, the viewers what it was like living in hell and at the end of the world. We constantly see photographs from the Somme and The Western Front and the conditions the soldiers were living in. Without theses images we would be forced to create a picture on our own and it wouldn't be close to what it all looked like. I always remember the mud from these images, like where ever there's war, there will be mud. What makes the film camera so significant is the insight it was able provide for us away from the fighting, mud and blood.
The way we see war is so far from a film camera these days but it did lay the foundations for years to come.
During early war efforts, men would routinely fly an aeroplane with a built in camera over a hot spot, place of interest or intended target. These camera's were huge, bulky and nothing like what we have now. We rely on chips, unmanned surveillance planes that are a the size a small bird on a radar, and satellites in space. These cameras relied on film, a fast shutter and the men. These cameras were so significant as it added greatly to the Intel gathered and aided in the planing of missions.

These cameras were used in some of the first large espionage missions and helped develop the framework for this medium.
